A New Community-Led Selection Process

The 2026 edition marks a significant change in how the Global Top 100 was selected.

In previous years, the list was curated by international expert panels representing academia, business and research. For the first time, Geoawesome opened the 2026 process entirely to the global geospatial community.

More than 125 geospatial professionals from around the world participated by contributing nominations, votes and input on the companies they believed were creating value and moving the industry forward. Geoawesome then consolidated the community’s contributions to form the final list of 100 companies.

This community-led approach makes the 2026 edition a broader reflection of the organizations recognized by professionals working across today’s geospatial ecosystem.

Bringing Geospatial Technology Indoors

Mapxus builds Physical AI data infrastructure — the machine-readable spatial layer that lets people, AI agents, and robots understand and navigate the physical world indoors. AI is stepping off the screen and into buildings — but less than 1% of indoor space exists as structured, machine-readable data. Mapxus closes that gap: professional-grade indoor mapping and hardware-free positioning across 7,500+ venues, serving 3M+ monthly active users. One authoritative spatial layer powers visitor navigation, building safety and emergency readiness, and the spatial intelligence that autonomous systems require.

By converting physical environments into structured indoor spatial data, Mapxus supports applications such as indoor navigation, accessible routing, digital venue experiences and location-aware services. Its platform also enables indoor map data to be used across different devices and integrated into existing digital systems.

Being included in the 2026 Global Top 100 recognizes Mapxus’s place within the wider geospatial community and the role of indoor spatial technology in connecting digital services with real-world environments.

We thank Geoawesome and the geospatial professionals who contributed to this year’s selection process. We also congratulate all the companies recognized in the 2026 edition.
