Mapxus Cookie Notice

Effective Date:
May 7, 2026
Version:
1.0

1. About this Notice

This Cookie Notice explains how and why Mapxus uses cookies and similar technologies on its websites (mapxus.com and the Japanese-language site operated by Mapxus Technology Japan K.K.). This Notice supplements the Mapxus Privacy Policy mapxus.com/legal/privacy.

We will obtain your explicit opt-in consent through our Cookie Preference Centre before placing any cookies on your device that are not strictly necessary for the Website’s function. You can review, update, or withdraw your cookie preferences at any time through the Cookie Preference Centre available in the footer of each website.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include web beacons, pixel tags, local storage, and SDK-level identifiers. Cookies can be:

• Session cookies — deleted when you close your browser

• Persistent cookies — remain on your device until they expire or you delete them

• First-party cookies — set by Mapxus

• Third-party cookies — set by a service provider on our behalf (e.g., analytics or marketing provider)

3. How we use cookies on our websites

We use cookies and similar technologies for four categories of purpose.

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to function. They enable core features such as session management, preferences (language selection), and security. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled.

Purpose Set by Duration
Session management Mapxus Session (ends on browser close)
Security / CSRF protection Mapxus Session
Language preference Mapxus 12 months
Cookie preference choice Mapxus 12 months

‍

3.2 Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website, so we can improve it. They do not identify you personally; they collect aggregated data such as page views, time on page, and referral sources.

Purpose Set by Duration Opt-out
Website analytics (Google Analytics 4) Google LLC (with IP anonymisation enabled) Up to 13 months Cookie preferences / browser settings / Google Analytics Opt-out
Product analytics (Amplitude) Amplitude, Inc. (no IP collection) Up to 13 months Cookie preferences

Note: Mapxus is in the process of phasing out Google Analytics in favour of Amplitude. During the transition, both may be active.

‍

3.3 Marketing cookies

Mapxus does not currently use marketing cookies.

3.4 Our mobile SDK does NOT set cookies on your device

The Mapxus Android SDK and iOS SDK do not set browser cookies on End User devices. SDK-level data handling is described in the applicable Mapxus Privacy Policy.

4. Your choices

You can manage your cookie preferences in several ways:

• On our websites: use the cookie preference centre available via the footer

• In your browser: most browsers let you refuse cookies or delete existing cookies. Instructions vary by browser

• Via Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control: our websites respect Global Privacy Control signals where supported

Declining analytics or marketing cookies will not affect core website functionality but may reduce the relevance of content shown to you.

5. Region-specific information

5.1 Singapore

Under the Singapore PDPA, consent is required for cookies that process Personal Data for purposes beyond what is reasonably necessary to provide the website’s core service. Non-strictly-necessary cookies therefore require your opt-in through the cookie preference centre.

5.2 Hong Kong

Under the Hong Kong PDPO, cookies that process Personal Data are subject to the six Data Protection Principles. We provide notice (this Notice) and obtain consent through the cookie preference centre for non-essential cookies.

5.3 Japan

Under Japan’s APPI, analytics and marketing cookies that process Personal Information require appropriate disclosure of purpose of use (this Notice serves that purpose) and — for third-party cookies — the Article 28 disclosures applicable to cross-border data recipients.

5.4 Taiwan

Under Taiwan’s 個人資料保護法, we provide this Notice and obtain consent through the cookie preference centre for non-essential cookies.

5.5 Other regions

For visitors from other regions, we apply the reasonable standard of protection described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Changes to this Notice

We may update this Notice from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates when this version took effect. Material changes will be notified through a banner on our website.
