1. Purpose and scope
This Acceptable Use Policy (the “AUP”) sets out the rules that govern your use of the Mapxus indoor mapping and positioning platform and any related products, services, websites, SDKs, APIs, and documentation (together, the “Service”) provided by Mapxus Technology Pte. Limited (“Mapxus”).
This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of the Mapxus Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”). Capitalised terms used but not defined in this AUP have the meanings given in the Terms. In the event of any conflict between this AUP and the Terms, the Terms prevail. Material violations of this AUP may result in immediate suspension or termination of your access to the Service under Section 17 of the Terms.
This AUP applies to all Users — Business Users, End Users, and anyone else accessing or using the Service.
2. General responsible-use rules
You shall not use the Service:
(a) for any purpose that is unlawful in any jurisdiction in which you operate or in which the Service is used;
(b) to infringe any third party’s intellectual property rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other proprietary rights;
(c) to defame, harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, intimidate, or otherwise harm any person;
(d) to transmit, store, or distribute material that is hateful, discriminatory, obscene, or that promotes violence or terrorism;
(e) to transmit, store, or distribute child sexual abuse material or any content that sexually exploits or endangers a minor;
(f) to engage in fraud, deception, or misrepresentation, including phishing, identity theft, or impersonation of any person or entity;
(g) to circumvent any technical, contractual, or legal restriction on access to the Service or any related system;
(h) in any manner that violates any applicable export-control, sanctions, anti-money-laundering, anti-corruption, or trade-control law of Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United Nations, or any other competent authority.
3. Technical abuse and infrastructure protection
You shall not, and shall not permit any third party to:
(a) introduce, transmit, or store malicious code, viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, spyware, or any other harmful software;
(b) launch, participate in, or facilitate any denial-of-service or distributed denial-of-service attack against the Service or any other system;
(c) probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or breach any security or authentication measure, except pursuant to a written authorised security-research programme agreed in advance with security@mapxus.com;
(d) scrape, crawl, harvest, or use any automated means (other than the documented Mapxus API or SDK used in accordance with the Developer Documentation) to extract data from the Service;
(e) evade, exceed, or attempt to exceed any rate limit, quota, throttle, or other usage restriction;
(f) cache, store, redistribute, or republish map tiles, positioning data, or any other output of the Service beyond the limits permitted in Section 6.2 of the Terms or in the Developer Documentation;
(g) use the Service in a manner that imposes a disproportionate or unreasonable load on the Service infrastructure, or that interferes with any other User’s use of the Service;
(h) interfere with, disrupt, or damage any server, network, or system used to provide the Service.
4. Privacy, tracking, and surveillance restrictions
The standard Mapxus Service is designed to provide indoor positioning to End Users on their own devices. It is not designed to be used as a surveillance or tracking tool against identifiable natural persons. Accordingly:
4.1 You shall not use the standard Service to track, surveil, profile, identify, or monitor the location of any identifiable natural person.
4.2 Staff tracking, employee monitoring, contractor monitoring, customer-journey tracking against identifiable individuals, asset tracking that involves a person carrying the asset, and any other use case that involves identifying or following a natural person require:
(a) subscription to the Mapxus Positioning Analytics & Tracking Add-on;
(b) compliance with all consent, transparency, and notice requirements of that Add-on; and
(c) compliance with all applicable employment, labour, privacy, and data-protection laws of the jurisdictions in which the tracked person is located.
4.3 You shall not combine Personal Data obtained through the Service with any other dataset to re-identify pseudonymous End Users without the consent from End Users.
4.4 You shall not use the Service to:
(a) facilitate stalking, harassment, or intimate-partner surveillance;
(b) monitor, identify, or surveil journalists, activists, human-rights defenders, dissidents, ethnic or religious minorities, LGBTQ+ communities, or any other group whose surveillance would create a risk of harm in the relevant jurisdiction;
(c) conduct or assist in mass-surveillance programmes operated by or on behalf of any intelligence, security, or law-enforcement agency;
(d) identify, locate, or track End Users without a lawful basis under applicable data-protection law (including but not limited to the Singapore PDPA, Hong Kong PDPO, Japan APPI, Taiwan 個人資料保護法, GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA).
4.5 You shall comply at all times with the Mapxus Privacy Policy, the Mapxus Data Processing Addendum (where applicable), and Section 13 of the Terms.
5. High-risk and prohibited use cases
Mapxus is a general-purpose indoor positioning and mapping platform. It is not certified, designed, or warranted for safety-critical, life-critical, or weapons-related applications. Accordingly, you shall not use the Service:
5.1 Safety-critical applications. For any safety-critical or life-critical purpose where Service failure or inaccuracy could result in death, personal injury, or severe property or environmental damage, including:
(a) emergency-services dispatch or response routing;
(b) autonomous-vehicle control or guidance;
(c) aviation navigation, air-traffic control, or unmanned-aerial-vehicle control;
(d) medical-device positioning, surgical guidance, or any clinical decision-making;
(e) nuclear-facility operation, monitoring, or evacuation;
(f) operation of hazardous-materials handling, mining, or heavy-industrial machinery;
unless pursuant to a separate written enterprise agreement with Mapxus that expressly permits and assumes responsibility for such use.
5.2 Weapons and harmful technology. To develop, test, train, evaluate, manufacture, deploy, or operate any weapon, weapons-targeting system, weapons-guidance system, or any technology that is reasonably likely to cause death or serious physical injury to any person.
5.3 Restricted airspace and geofencing evasion. To navigate or evade no-fly zones, restricted airspace, military zones, prohibited zones, or any other geographic restriction imposed by a competent authority.
5.4 Unlawful surveillance. As described in Section 4 above.
6. Content restrictions
For any User Content (including venue data, floor plans, points of interest, and other Application Data) you submit through the Service:
(a) you must have all rights necessary to submit and license that content as described in Section 7 of the Terms;
(b) the content must be lawful, accurate, and not misleading;
(c) the content must not infringe any third party’s rights;
(d) the content must not depict private or restricted-access locations against the wishes of the owner or operator of those locations;
(e) the content must not contain hidden, deceptive, or maliciously misleading points of interest (e.g., false addresses, decoy locations, or content designed to mislead End Users);
(f) the content must not include any content prohibited by Sections 2, 4, or 5 above.
7. Use restrictions on outputs and AI / model training
In addition to Section 6.2 of the Terms, you shall not use any output of the Service:
(a) to train, fine-tune, evaluate, or benchmark any machine-learning or artificial-intelligence model that is offered, sold, or licensed to any third party;
(b) to develop or improve any product or service that competes with the Service;
(c) for any commercial benchmarking, comparative-advertising, or competitive-intelligence purpose without Mapxus’s prior written consent.
8. Reporting violations
If you become aware of any actual or suspected violation of this AUP, please report it promptly to:

Please include sufficient detail to allow Mapxus to investigate, including: the nature of the violation, the parties involved, any relevant URLs or account identifiers, the time and date of the conduct, and any supporting evidence.
Mapxus reviews all reports and investigates as appropriate. Mapxus does not guarantee any specific response or outcome. Mapxus may share reports with law enforcement, regulators, or affected third parties where required by law or where Mapxus reasonably believes such sharing is necessary to prevent harm.
9. Enforcement
9.1 Mapxus reserves the right, but is not obligated, to investigate any actual or suspected violation of this AUP. Mapxus may, at its sole discretion and without prior notice:
(a) issue a warning;
(b) require you to remove, modify, or stop using specific User Content or features;
(c) suspend your access to the Service in whole or in part;
(d) terminate your Account and these Terms in whole or in part under Section 17 of the Terms;
(e) report the violation and your information to law enforcement, regulators, or affected third parties where required by law or where Mapxus reasonably believes such reporting is necessary to prevent harm; and
(f) take any other action permitted by the Terms or applicable law.
9.2 Material violations of this AUP — including any violation of Sections 2(d), 2(e), 2(h), 3(a), 3(b), 3(c), 4, 5, or 6(d) — may result in immediate suspension or termination without a cure period under Section 17.2 of the Terms.
9.3 Where Mapxus suspends rather than terminates, Mapxus will use reasonable efforts to restore access promptly once the violation is remedied.
9.4 Suspension or termination under this AUP does not relieve you of any payment obligations accrued before the suspension or termination, and does not give rise to any refund or service credit.
10. Updates to this AUP
Mapxus may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email, in-product notice, or equivalent means at least 30 days before they take effect. Non-material updates (such as clarifications, formatting changes, or contact-detail updates) take effect on publication.
The current version of this AUP is always available at https://www.mapxus.com/legal/aup.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of an updated AUP constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service and may terminate under Section 17.1 of the Terms.
