(HONG KONG, Jul 9, 2019) Mapxus is pleased to announce that it is providing indoor mapping services in Apple’s Indoor Maps Program, to help organizations create indoor map data and enable app development for iPhones and iPads. We aim to develop the first third-party indoor map platform deployed globally.
Apple announced the Indoor Maps Program at WWDC 2019, which enables organizations to add indoor maps to their apps and websites and allows Apple Indoor Positioning inside buildings and facilities. Our indoor solution provides services to create Indoor Mapping Data Format (IMDF) of buildings, which Apple requires to enable indoor positioning. By using Mapxus SDK, software developers can enable indoor map functions like indoor wayfinding easily.
We strive to make indoor mapping simple and provide a city-wide location platform of high-quality indoor digital maps, indoor positioning system across smartphones, and 3D visual map. With our ready-to-use mapping tools and Software Development Kit (SDK), our partners can focus on value creation, accelerating their application development, thereby bringing greater value to their users.
“Apple works with a number of third parties that provide platforms for creating and updating IMDF as well as APIs to display IMDF. We are proud and honored to be one of them” said Dr. John Chan, Founder and CEO of Mapxus. “By enabling a scalable and city-based indoor map service and lowering the cost of implementation, we hope to unlock new business opportunity and help you develop your favorite location-based service applications indoor. Furthermore, let us make the city smarter together!”
Apple Inc originally published IMDF on March 4, 2019. It provides a generalized and comprehensive data model for any indoor location. IMDF establishes a fundamental approach for enabling native support of indoor positioning and navigation on iOS devices without huge infrastructure investments by venue owners.
